Lodge Meeting
As reviewed in the November 2024 Edition of In Touch, the Worshipful Master of Solihull Lodge 8088, W.Bro. Phillip Benson, will be presenting a Lecture entitled “Keeping Safe in the Connected World Driven by Computers” at the next Lodge Meeting on 20th January 2025.
We shop online. We work online. We play online. We live online. More and more, our lives depend on online, digital services. Almost everything can be done online – from shopping and banking to socialising and card making – and all of this makes the internet, also known as cyberspace, an attractive target for criminals.
Cyber security breaches and attacks remain a common threat.
Half of businesses (50%) and around a third of charities (32%) report having experienced some form of cyber security breach or attack in the last 12 months. This is much higher for medium businesses (70%), large businesses (74%) and high-income charities with £500,000 or more in annual income (66%). But it is not only businesses and organisations that are at risk, individuals are also at significant risk from criminals in the online world. Having your personal online information stolen may result in serious consequences not only for yourself but also your friends, associates, and contacts.
The Lecture will provide an insight into the sort of threats that may be encountered from criminal predators in the online world, how to protect yourself to avoid getting ensnared, what to do if it does happen.
All Brethren are welcome to visit the Solihull Lodge 8088 Lodge Meeting at Knowle Masonic Centre on 20th January 2025 to hear this most important Lecture. Lodge will Open at 6:00pm and will be followed by a Festive Board afterwards.
